For a quick ornament idea, try hanging a cookie cutter with a bit of Christmas ribbon. To help with your decoration as well as your Christmas trivia knowledge, place a basket of seasonal books on your coffee table or end table. It will look festive, and it may just help you win a quick family game sometime.

Paint ball is growing to be a very popular game for all ages. There is lot of different things that you can do with a paint ball gun. Paint ball is considered a sport because it does involve a lot of physical activity. The object of the game is to shoot small balls of paint out of a paint ball gun and successfully hit your target.

There is a lot of running and jumping when you are playing with a paintball gun. There is a lot of physical movement to try and avoid being hit by the paint ball pellets. The person that is most covered with paint is none the less the loser of the game.

There are a lot of places that you can go to play with your paintball gun safely. There are so many obstacles that you have to go through when you are playing this sport. You can play on a course or you can play this fun sport in your own back yard.

There are many things that you are going to need in order to play paint ball. It is not going to be cheap to play this sport, as most of the equipment is costly. You will need to have a paint ball gun, paint balls, air for your tank, paint ball mask, and of course the will to have fun. You can get most of these items at a sporting goods store in just about any area.

There are a few rules for paintball. The first thing to remember is that you has to play safe. You do not need anyone to get hurt when playing after all it is all in fun. Masks have to be worn at all times to make sure that your eyes and face are protected. You should always know what you are shooting at and never just shoot at anything. One thing to know is that the paintball guns need to be tested on a regular basis.

Paintball is one of the most fun and safest sports there is today. As long as people play along with the rules and wear the correct safety gear, anyone can have a lot of fun and exercise playing paintball. There is no reason why you should not get started on this fun and exciting game. You can have fun while you burn some calories at the same time.

Children and adults can play. You should never shoot at animals or people that are not playing the game. Although this is just a game, a paintball gun can potentially harm someone that is not expecting a hit and does not have safety gear. Always play safe and fair and it will be a fun sport to play.

Our Girls Bathroom Before and After + Mood Board

A few weeks ago I showed you our bathroom before pictures and some of the paint colors I chose for our bathroom remodel. We are DONE and I am ready to show you the reveal! It’s a night and day difference and I love being able to check a project like this off of our list. Another look at the befores…

And the AFTER…

To add a pop of color and finish off the mirror we framed it and painted it a very similar match to the shower curtain, rug, and towel – it’s called Sweet as a Peach by Sherwin-Williams. I love it and it turned out to be the perfect color. The lighting was really tricky to grab a good picture, but it looks a million times better than the original.

The shower was the most time intensive part. My husband was up a few nights until 2 in the morning trying to finish it, we had family coming in and wanted to get it done before they arrived. It took A LOT longerthan we anticipated but I couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

And for our closet we removed all of the old shelving, painted it the same color as the walls, grabbed some leftover boards from our built-ins and made shelves. I love having an organized closet and know where everything is.

And for our countertops … We had a heck of time deciding what to do with them. I really wanted to get a premade quartz countertop from Lowe’s, but the sink hole was right in the middle and because of the way our vanity was set up we needed it on the right. We thought about getting a new vanity,  but for the price we wanted to pay, most of them were very cheaply made and I didn’t love their setup. Ours was solid wood and I liked the drawers it had so we decided to just paint it – I really love the results.

We also looked at custom ordering a quartz countertop, that ended up costing close to $800, I looked at granite slabs, that was right around there as well, and one day I was strolling through the kitchen area in Lowe’s and ran into their laminate cuts – this one was $68 and the dimensions were perfect. Long story short, we went with laminate and it looks great. One of my friends thought it was granite!

My husband had to cut the backsplash off because it ended up being a little deeper than we wanted, and we found out our walls are not square, so it left a gap in between the backsplash and the wall. So we bought the tile and did the backsplash ourselves.

We had a few hiccups along the way, projects never go the way you want them to, but oh it feels good to have it finished.

The exterior of a home generally makes the biggest impression when you first view a potential buying opportunity. Several homebuyers, however, generally make the mistake of looking at color schemes as the principal issue. In truth, a close review of the exterior of the prospective home can tell you a lot about the quality of the structure.

A person selling a home is not stupid. Before putting a home on the market, they are going to take steps to spiff it out to raise buyer interest and the rate you’re willing to pay. There is nothing devious about such conduct. It is natural to want to put your best foot forward and a person selling a home is not going to act differently. This is why you want to take a close look at the exterior paint and stucco on a home.

1. The first thing to look for is peeling or flaking of paint on the exterior walls. If you notice this in an apparent place on a wall, run for the hills because the house needs a total repaint. Typically, you’re not going to find such apparent problems. Instead, you need to poke around behind bushes, up under roof overhangs and in nooks and crannies. If you find problems of this sort, it tends to mean the paint job on the home was not applied correctly. Once these problems start occurring, you can count on them getting worse over time.

2. The second thing to look for is stains around perforations in the paint. For instance, look for an area where bolts or nails penetrate a painted surface. If you notice rust around the hole, you may be seeing an indication of poor maintenance. Even worse, you may be seeing an indication of a water drainage problem. Investigate such occurrences very carefully.

3. With stucco homes, you’re generally going to find some cracking do to earth movement and temperature changes. As long as these areas are relatively small, you should not have problems patching them for a nominal price. The more massive problem, however, is if you find stains or soft spots on the bottom section of a stucco wall. This can mean there are problems with the drainage screen behind the stucco wall and water is not getting out. If water is not getting out, the stucco will continue to degrade and you may have a mold problem at some point. Both situations might be very high-priced to fix.

When checking out perspective home buying opportunities, the exterior of the home should be looked at very closely. In this case, the merits of the home all come down to the details.

Outdoor Living

What started out as a yard in the great American dream has evolved into an outdoor living space, encompassing dining areas, living rooms and even play areas that go way beyond the swingsets of the 1950’s. These spaces extend the livable area of your home, while saving you money and increasing your home’s value. This is particularly true in the Southwest, where bug-free, temperate outdoor conditions predominate for much of the year. In fact, a little further south, Latin American homes often blur the distinction between indoor and outdoor spaces – a bedroom might open to the garden or the dining room might call for outdoor eating all year ’round.

To take advantage of the wisdom of outdoor spaces, it’s important to remember that you’ll be more likely to use them if they are close to the entrances of your home. One exception to that rule, however, are retreat spaces – sanctuaries you’ll want to remove from the house to create a sense of privacy and solace.

One of the most popular outdoor spaces is the outdoor dining room/kitchen. Plans for outdoor dining rooms can range from the basic to the outrageous, depending on your inclination and budget. Merely placing tables and chairs to take advantage of (or avoid) the sun, with a barbeque set up nearby, may be all you need. Even so, consider accents to dress up the space, like container gardens and solar-powered lights.

If you want to go for broke, install an entire outdoor kitchen with weatherproof cabinets and outdoor-ready appliances. Often the cabinets and appliances form the “walls” or boundaries of the space which you can then dress up with Spanish tile and a dining set. Use a pergola to provide shade and some cover.

Another popular option is the outdoor living room. Some families create not one, but two outdoor living spaces, one on the east side of the house and one on the west side. When it’s hot out, they always have a shady respite, and during cooler weather they can soak up the sun’s rays all day long. Planting greenery around these areas will help defray cooling costs in the summer and provide privacy and protection from the wind. Consider making these spaces more cozy with weatherproof fabrics, rattan furniture and pillow-draped seat walls. And to add interest, build your outdoor living room around a focal point such as a view, water feature or even a fireplace.

There are many reasons to consider creating outdoor living spaces. They not only raise your property value, but can be a place to entertain or simply an easy way to enjoy the great outdoors without having to leave your home.
